Luxury fashion brand pulls outfit resembling concentration camp uniforms

A luxury fashion house apologized Friday after being criticized for selling an ensemble resembling concentration camp uniforms from the Holocaust. Loewe, a luxury brand based in Spain, sold the outfit as part of its William De Morgan capsule collection, which became available Nov. 14 and is inspired by the 19th century British ceramicist. Many who criticized the outfit — including Diet Prada, a fashion industry watchdog account on Instagram — cited the similarities to concentration camp uniforms worn by Holocaust victims, which also consisted of vertical-striped, button-down shirts and matching pants. Loewe issued the apology via the brand’s Instagram account and has since removed the products from its website. “It was brought to our attention that one of our looks featured in a magazine and part of our Arts and Crafts ceramicist William De Morgan could be misconstrued as referring to one of the most odious moments in the history of mankind,” the statement read. “It was absolutely never our intention and we apologize to anyone who might feel we were insensitive to sacred memories. The products featured have been removed from our commercial off...

TikTok has more than a billion users on its platform, and it appears the company is now experimenting with ways for it and its users to monetize their audiences on the app. Recently, TikTok has begun a limited test of a feature that lets users add links to their bios and posts, which can direct audiences to products or services. Judging by a video of the service in action posted by Fabian Bern, a marketer, it looks like audiences can purchase products featured in videos directly from the videos themselves. Influencers make their money from their audiences, and TikTok making that process more seamless almost certainly means those power users are going to see — and use — the service differently. Currently, the only way to make money on TikTok is to do brand deals off-platform. Molson Coors to retire MillerCoors name, combine business units, refocus products and eliminate 400-500 jobs

Welp, Peter Frost let us know today that Molson Coors is shaking up its business. First off, the company’s changing its name to Molson Coors Beverage Co., as it wants to shed that MillerCoors partnership venture vibe and get into non-traditional beer products. The company is also consolidating from four to two business units in an attempt to streamline operations. Its U.S. business (MillerCoors), Latin America business and Molson Coors Canada will now form one North American business unit, and the company will fold its Molson Coors International group into Molson Coors Europe. The name MillerCoors shall no longer be used, so it is decreed. Molson Coors will also close its Denver office and make Chicago its North American commercial headquarters. The big MC also expects to cut between 400 and 500 salaried positions in this entire process, primarily in North America and from Molson Coors International, so there will be some beer professionals out there looking for new jobs. [Molson Coors President and CEO Gavin] Hattersley, who took over as CEO for a retiring Mark Hunter in late September, said the company has made “encouraging” progress in evolving the company to meet rapidly cha...
